German Ambassador to Turkey Martin Erdmann has been called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to a banner calling for release of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) Leader Abdullah Öcalan in the Kurdish Festival organized in province of Cologne in Germany.
In its statement, the ministry described the festival as “an event that was organized by the offshoots of the PKK terror organization in Germany”.
Denouncing the Kurdish Festival, the ministry stated that they expressed their reactions to Erdmann “in a very strong way”.
Urging Germany to “maintain a stand against all sorts of terror”, the statement said, “A banner reading Free Öcalan was let fly in the festival. The festival was not permitted to be held by Cologne authorities due to ‘security concerns’ last year”. (EA/TK)
