Bringing together 60 photograph artist from Turkey and abroad, 3rd Fotoistanbul Beşiktaş International Photography Festival started on October 1.
Continuing until October 30, 60 exhibitions, 12 panels and round table discussions, six meeting with masters sessions, over 250 portfolio evaluations and book signing days will be organized as part of the festival. Novelty of this year will be open air video screening.
Fotoistanbul 2016 will host artworks of one of the most important living photograph artists Sandro Miller and 34 others including , Ruud van Empel, Antonie D'agata, Christer Strömhölm, Nick Brandt, Daesung Lee, Mandy Barker, Josef Hoflehner, Kai Widenhofer, Henrik Spohler, James Mollison, Shadi Ghadirian, Tomasz Lazar, Marcus Lyon, Jean Fransuva Lepage, Park Seung Hoon.
From Turkey, 20 photograph artists including Yıldız Moran, Maryam Şahinyan, Gül Ilgaz, Sinan Tuncay, Ahmet Öner Gezgin, Ergun Turan, Bennu Gerede, Barbaros Kayan, Aydın Büyüktaş, Tayfun Öztürk, Seçkin Yılmaz, H-art Kollektif will participate in the festival.
Starting from this year, the festival will host one country and that country’s artists as “Honorary Guest” and will hold events peculiar to that country.
This year's honorary guest is Hungary
This year’s honorary guest will be Hungary which raised worldwide photographers such as André Kertész, Brassaï, Robert Capa, László Moholy-Nagy. Furthermore, pieces of “Robert Capa International Grand Award” prize winner will be exhibited in the Fotoistanbul every year.
In addition to this, pieces of International Andrei Stenin contest, which was organized in Russia as in last year, winner and that unique selections of Arles Voies and Tbilisi Photgraphy festivals will take place in Fotoistanbul 2016.
Instagram photo contest will be organized within the scope of this year’s festival. After the selection process of the photos sent from thousands of candidates from all over the world, the runners up will be awarded with various presents from Canon Türkiye. Furthermore, pieces of the photographers ranking in the first 50 will be displayed during the festival.
The venues where the festival to take place are as follows: MKM, Ortaköy Yetimhanesi, Ortaköy Kültür Merkezi, Ortaköy Meydanı, Serencebey Barbaros Bulvarı, Demokrasi Meydanı, Deniz Müzesi, Kazan Meydanı, Beşiktaş Köyiçi Meydanı, Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Üniversitesi, Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi Beşiktaş Kampüsü, Macar Kültür Merkezi, Artgalerim, Fotoğraf Evi, Gama, İFG, Mikser, O'Art Sanat Platformu and The Empire Project.
