The Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (Türk-İş) has released the results of its monthly "Hunger and Poverty Line Survey" for June, aiming to shed light on the "cost of living" conditions.
According to the survey, the monthly food expenditure required for a family of four to have a healthy, balanced, and sufficient diet (line) is 10,373 lira.
The total amount of monthly expenses, including food, clothing, housing (rent, electricity, water, fuel), transportation, education, healthcare, and other essential needs (poverty line), is 33,788 lira.
The cost of living for a single employed individual has risen to 13,471 lira per month.
In May, Türk-İş measured the starvation line at 10,362 lira and the poverty line at 33,752 lira.
Additionally, Türk-İş reported a monthly food inflation rate of 0.1% in June. On an annual basis, it reached its lowest level since January 2022, with a rate of 62.30%. The six-month change in food inflation stands at 27.58%. (HA/VK)
