As the Turkish lira fell to 8 against the US dollar for the first time ever, Minister of Treasury and Finance Berat Albayrak said that the country's economy "was on the path of growth."
Hours after the lira's slide yesterday (October 26), he said on Twitter that "The latest data shows that our economy is on course to enter the path of growth. In October, the service sector confidence increased by 6.4 percent, retail trade sector confidence index increased by 1.6 percent. Capacity utilization rate increased from 74.6 percent to 74.9."
The US dollar is currently trading at 8.10 lira. (DŞ/VK)
