The Disaster and Emergency Presidency (AFAD) announced that 12,873 people died and 62,937 were injured as of 07:45 am. today (February 9) in the February 6 earthquakes.
AFAD issued a written statement about the earthquakes resulting in thousands of losses of life and vast destruction in ten cities.
The statement informed that a thousand and 117 aftershocks followed the 7,7 and 7,6 magnitude Feb. 6 earthquakes centered in Pazarcık and Elbistan of Maraş.
"5,709 rescuers arrived from other countries"
While 24,727 rescuers are participating in the rescue efforts from different public agencies and civil organizations, and 5,709 rescuers arrived from abroad.
137,928 tents and 1 million 255 thousand blankets were transferred to the 10 cities affected. 92,738 tents have been erected. (SD/PE)
