In a train derailment that took place in the district of Çorlu in Tekirdağ on July 8, 2018, 25 people lost their lives and 338 people were wounded.
Holding a statement for the press in front of Çorlu Courthouse before beginning their justice watch, the families who lost their loved ones in the accident have stated that the ones who were actually responsible for the derailment are covered up. The families have said, "We will not keep quiet about it, we will not let this unlawfulness."
'The verdict of non-prosecution is unacceptable'
Referring to the investigation launched into the train derailment, the families have reminded that "the Prosecutor's Office filed a lawsuit against only four people who had the least responsibility and gave a verdict of non-prosecution for all other responsible persons."
"For us, who hide their sorrows and seek after justice in court corridors and demand that all responsible persons be identified and prosecuted, this verdict is unacceptable," the families have underlined.
'We will never stop following hard behind this case'
Concluding their remarks, the families have stated,
"This verdict means covering up and whitewashing the real responsible persons. We will not keep quiet about it, we will not let this unlawfulness.
"We, as the families who lost their lives or got injured in Çorlu train massacre, will never stop following hard behind this case and increase our demand for justice everyday in front of Çorlu Courthouse until this unlawful and unconscionable verdict is evaluated and removed."
