President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in his speech at the 20th Anniversary of foundation of the Turkey Foundation of Service to Youth and Education (TÜRGEV) has called the women and girls in the hall as “mother candidates”, expressed that birth control methods shouldn’t be used.
Erdoğan spoke as follows:
“Because a Turkey of 79 million [people] and billions of people with whom we are together in civilization and history collectivism stands ahead of us, and that I clearly say that we will augment our posterity, generation.
“Population planning, birth control they recommend, no Muslim family can be within this understanding. We will follow the path in line with instructions of god, whatever our dear prophet says.
“And for this, the primary duty falls to the mothers. The generation’s owner is mother. Heaven lies beneath their feet, not beneath the feet of men because they are mother. That is why we expect this as well from you mother candidates, especially the educated, qualified mother candidates.
“We will focus on school curriculum”
Erdoğan later on in his speech explained how they will grow the “youth in their ideals”:
“If we have to raise the youth in our ideal, then we have to found and develop our own institutions starting from family.
“A morally exemplary youth hopefully will consist of the youngsters raised in the dormitories of the TÜRGEV. I believe this will be a youth that won’t compromise in their worship. We have decided to focus on school curriculum instead of building school to achieve this goal.
“Separatist terror organization is using a part of these young people and lead them to a tragic end. A sub-structure to stop their flow is strongly needed. In the same way, we have young people falling in the hands of DAİŞ (ISIS – Islamic State of Iraq and Syria -) and they are religious. They have faith but not consciousness. Plus, we have young people having issues such as drug, gambling and even technology addiction”.
Hearers couldn’t understand Erdoğan’s question
Erdoğan in his speech also conveyed that in past, young people with headscarf weren’t let inside the school doors and taken to interrogation rooms.
Erdoğan asked the audience referring to the authorities back then asked, “Where are they now?”, and that the audience replied “here”.
Erdoğan noticing the audience got the question wrong, repeated the question saying “no, no, where are those who did those things?” (ÇT/TK)
