Erdoğan: Muftis* to Perform Marriage Whether You Like It or Not

President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Leader Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has spoken at the Meeting of Expanded Provincial Chairs in the AKP Headquarters.

We saw this when they called on people to take it to the street, we saw this when how our 53 citizens were killed in one day.

Who performs marriage now? Mayor or registrar who are public servants. And who is mufti? He is a public servant as well and they are all university graduates.

Vast majority of our people go to a hodja to have another marriage performed following the official marriage. This is how it is.
