The Supreme Election Board (YSK) has taken a decision to “move the ballot boxes” prior to June 24 presidential and parliamentary elections despite objections raised by Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Mardin MP Mithat Sancar and HDP Representative to the YSK Mehmet Tiryaki.
Sancar and Tiryaki objected to the YSK yesterday (May 27) against the 19 governorships’ demand that the ballot boxes be combined.
“Most of them are HDP voters”
Meeting with YSK President Sadi Güven in the evening hours, Sancar and Tiryaki conveyed their objection but the governorships’ demand was accepted by the YSK in a meeting held after a couple of hours of Sancar and Tiryaki’s objection.
In his statement to Amerika’nın Sesi concerning the YSK’s decision, Sancar said, “We don’t know the exact number of voters to be affected by this decision yet. The decision will take effect in a large number of villages. Fort his reason, it seems that more voters than our initial foresight will be affect, and that most of them are HDP voters”. (PT/TK)
