A doberman dog starved to death after being left alone for 10 to 15 days in the terrace of an apartment building in Çankaya, Ankara.
Tülay Danacıoğlu, the Türkiye representative of the Confederation Animals' Right to Life (Haykonfed), filed a complaint yesterday (September 22), after being notified of the incident.
Danacıoğlu had previously applied to the prosecutor's office, demanding a forced entry into the home to save the dog, but the application was rejected.
Today, officers who broke into the apartment upon an order by the district governor found the dead body of the dog.
Pet owners who fail to comply with bans and obligations have to pay 1,000 lira (54,44 US dollars) of fine per pet, according to the Animal Protection Law passed by the parliament in June 2021. (TY/VK)
