Staging protest in front of Cevahir Shopping Mall in Şİşli district in İstanbul, Nafel Aslan and Celal Akgün have been detained.
Aslan and Akgün attempted to stage a sit-in in support of the educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça, who are on the 90th day of their hunger strike.
The protesters had t-shirts on them with the imprinted photos of Gülmen and Özakça.
Their attorney Engin Gökoğlu told bianet that the prosecutor who ordered detention also ordered the seizure of the t-shirts, and said “The final point in unlawfulness”.
The protesters were released following their statement at the Security Directorate.
The hunger strike is on its 90th day
Academic Nuriye Gülmen and teacher Semih Özakça are on the 90th day of the hunger strike which they went on demanding that they be reinstated to their jobs.
They were arrested on the 76th day (May 23) of their hunger strike. The Human Rights Monument on Yüksel Street in Ankara is closed with police barriers since that day. (AS/TK)
