Taken into custody for allegedly harassing M.S., a woman who is not a citizen of Turkey and was working for him as a cleaning worker, in İstanbul's Kadıköy, dentist İsmail B. was released from detention in May 2021. The investigation against the male perpetrator has been completed.
Prepared by the İstanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the indictment has cited the statements of the parties. In her statement, aggrieved woman M.S. has said that she started working with İ.B. and when he told him that she had nowhere to stay, the suspect told her that she could stay with him in the same house and in the same room.
The woman also indicated that İ.B. said he would give her 4,500 Turkish Lira (TRY), but she quitted the job as he did not give the money.
According to the statement of the woman, İ.B. called her back to work, saying that he would give her money. M.S. said that she could not turn him down when he asked for sexual intercourse as she knew that the suspect had a gun in his house. On the day of the incident, the woman went there again to take her money from the suspect, the man held her by the arms and broke her phone. In response to this, she ran to the balcony, asked for help, shouting, 'Help, they are raping me' and filed a complaint.
The indictment has demanded that suspect İ.B. be put on trial on charges of "simple sexual assault" and "damage to property" and face 5 years, 4 months to 13 years in prison. The indictment has been accepted by the İstanbul Anadolu Penal Court of First Instance. (EMK/SD)
