Denktas called on the postponement of the referendum on the Annan Plan, in his speech and said, The game of taking the state out of our hands, has started. We are struggling not to lose it. We did not lose it up-to-now and we will not lose it after now.
In an emotional speech at the Bar Association of Bursa, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) president Rauf Denktas said that "We are facing a big threat now. I plead to the Turkish government to make our derogations permanent. Otherwise, in 15 years, we shall be expelled from Cyprus."
