He said that the Russian veto showed that pressures on both sides in Cyprus, were unacceptable and this decision relaxed everybody.
The draft resolution launched by Britain at the UN Security Council which called on for demilitarizing Cyprus was accepted by 14 UN members but vetoed by permanent member Russia which said that such a resolution would influence the decisions of Cypriots before the referenda.
Russia also said that this was a technical veto, rather than being political. (YE)
