Curfew was declared today (August 24) in Yüksekova district of Hakkari province as of 6 a.m. for three days.
The curfew has been announced on the official website of Hakkari Governorate, which in its statement has explained the reason for the three-day curfew as eliminating assaults such as armed, bomb and rocket attacks on the security forces of the province, and preventing any terrorist attacks. In addition, the curfew was announced at around 1:30 a.m. from the mosques.
The curfew was declared following a rocket attack carried out by members of Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in which a special operations police officer was injured. According to the report of Yüksekova News, a special forces police officer was injured in the rocket attack carried out on a dragon-type armoured vehicle in Güngör neighbourhood at around 9 p.m. Hakkari Governor Cüneyit Orhan Toprak stated that the police officer injured on his feet, was brought to Yüksekova State Hospital and had no death risk.(EA/DG)
