The Human Rights Association (İHD) İstanbul Branch has filed a criminal complaint against Alperen Movement İstanbul Provincial Chair Kürşat Mican, who assaulted on Neve Şalom Synagogue and threatened Jews from Turkey.
The complaint was filed by İHD Commission Against Racism and Discrimination members Ayşe Günaysu, Gülistan Yarkın, Meral Çıldır, Eren Keskin, Işıl Su Erdoğan and Nurten Dayanan.
It was said in the statement that Mican committed hate crime with his speech in front of the Synagogue.
What happened?
On July 14, the Israeli police had killed three Palestinians who were claimed to attack Al-Aqsa with firearms and the two Israeli police officers who were injured in the incident lost their lives.
Following the incident, Israel closed Al-Aqsa to worshipping and placed metal detectors at the gate. Palestinian Muslims were refusing to go through the detectors.
A group of people from Alperen Movement kicked the synagogue’s door and threw stones at it in the protest staged against Israel in front of Neve Şalom Synagogue in Beyoğlu on July 20.
Coming in front of the synagogue, Alperen Movement Provincial Chair Kürşat Mican issued a statement here:
“Our brothers and sisters cannot say their prayers in Al-Aqsa Mosque. This goes against freedom of religion, belief and worship. May Zionists come to their senses and not prevent our brothers and sisters’ freedom of worship. If they obstruct our freedom of worship there, we obstruct their freedom of worship here. We can come here tomorrow as we did today. You won’t be able to inside”. (TP/HK/TK)
