The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has said it did not make a statement saying that Syrian refugee students can enroll at any university they want without examination and it will not make such a statement in the future.
Recently, some accounts on social media claimed Syrian refugee students can enroll at any university without examination. In Turkey, students have to take a standardized test to enroll at a university.
"Totally unfounded claims"
The YÖK has made the following statement on the claims:
"We see there are posts that make totally unfounded claims to mislead our citizens, such as the YÖK made a statement saying that Syrian refugee students can enroll at any university they want without examination.
"These posts do not reflect the current situation and the YÖK did not make a statement saying that Syrian refugee students can enroll at any university they want without examination and it will not make such a statement in the future.
"We kindly request that such social media posts that have political intentions and do not reflect the truth shall not be credited and that only the statements made from YÖK's official channels shall be taken into consideration." (AÖ/VK)
