Conflicts Escalate in Idlib: At Least 100 People Die

Conflicts among different groups in the northwestern parts of Syria have been escalating since Thursday night (January 3).

Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, which is a part of Al-Qaeda, and the National Front for Liberation, which identifies itself as part of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) supported by Turkey, have been conflicting in the region.

The conflicts, which erupted near the province of Aleppo on the first days of the week, have spread to the northern and southeastern parts of İdlib.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), at least 100 people, including eight civilians, have lost their lives in the conflicts.

SNHR: Conflicts are affecting the camps

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has announced that the conflicts are near the Al Jazeera and Zamzam camps.

The network has also added that the tents in the camps have been damaged and there is no precise information regarding the state of civilians.

"Russia will have to make a choice"

Speaking to the FOX News, retired US Colonel Douglas MacGregor stated that in the wake of President Donald Trump's decision of withdrawing troops from Syria, "Russia will have to make a choice between its allies."

Stating that "Russia has been in relation with different parties such as Turkey, Iran and Syria for a long time", MacGregor said,

"Putin has to make a choice. If Russia lets Turkey enter Syria, he will lose its impact on the Syrians and Iranians." (PT/SD)
