A viaduct, whose construction has still been continuing as part of Northern Marmara Highway, collapsed in Kocaeli today (November 28).
The Governorship of Kocaeli released a statement regarding the incident at night and announced that three of the workers who had been trapped under the wreckage lost their lives. Another worker was rescued from the debris.
While the wounded worker has been taken to hospital, it has been stated that there has been no one left under the wreckage.
As reported by the Anadolu Agency, a broadcast ban has been imposed on the news relating to the incident.
They fell from a 30-meter height
The incident occured in the construction of the viaduct no.7, which is a part of the Northern Marmara Highway.
With the collapse of a concrete block, the workers working at a 30-meter height fell from the viaduct and have been trapped under the debris.

The Northern Marmara Highway, whose first wide-scale tender was announced on January 10, 2012, also comprises the 3rd Bridge Project.
The tender of the highway project, whose first tender was postponed, was concluded on May 29, 2012. Its period of construction and management was specified as 10 years, 2 months and 20 days. Minister of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yıldırım stated that the construction would be completed in 3 years and cost 2.5 billion dollars.
As for the tender bid of linking roads, they were postponed for four times. While the tender of the Asian side was won by the Limak-Cengiz Joint Venture Group on May 17, 2016, the tender bid of the European side was won by the Kolin-Kalyon Joint Venture Group. (TP/SD)
