13 politicians have been arrested including Co-Mayors of Dersim Municipality Mehmet Ali Bul and Nurhayat Altun as well as the co-Mayor of Siirt Municipality Tuncer Bakırhan.
Co-Mayors of Dersim Municipality Mehmet Ali Bul and Nurhayat Altun, Municipal Council member Cemile Ataş, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) caucus member Ali Ekber Kaya, Labour Party (EMEP) co-Chair Mustafa Taşkale, HDP co-Chair Arslan Çağ, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-Chair Murat Polat, HDP executives Hüseyin Dağdeviren and Yaşar Ağın, Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) Hakan Kavut, Confederation on Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) Dersim Bureau co-Chair Şükran Yılmaz as well as White-Collar Worker's Union (BES) Dersim Representative Musa Kılıç were taken into custody in house raids towards yesterday morning (November 16).
The 13 politicians were arrested on charges of "being a member of an [illegal] organization.
Upon Siirt Municipality co-Mayor being discharged and arrested, Siirt Vice Governor Ceyhun Dilşad Taşkın has reportedly been appointed to the municipality as a trustee.
As of today (November 17), there are 37 co-Mayors from DBP arrested. (ÇT/DG)
