Co-Mayors of Başverimli Municipality in Silopi Arrested
Co-Mayors Rabia Takas and Tahir Aytış from Başverimli Municipality in Silopi district of Şırnak province have been arrested on charges of being a member of an “[illegal] organization” and “propagandizing for an [illegal] organization”. With the latest arrests, the number of arrested co-Mayors has risen to 40.

Co-Mayors Rabia Takas and Tahir Aytış from Başverimli Municipality in Silopi district of Şırnak province have been arrested.
Taken into custody yesterday (November 22), Takas and Aytış were arrested on claims of being a member of an "[illegal] organization" and "propagandizing for an [illegal] organization".
Asked about the speeches they held in Newroz celebrations, it has been claimed that the co-Mayors had "provided construction equipment for digging the ditches".
As of November 23, there are 40 co-Mayors from Democratic Regions Party (DBP) who are arrested. (ÇT/DG).
