Civilian Servants Among Dead in Bomb Attack Against Soldiers

 It has been stated that the bomb attack killing 28 persons and injuring 61 others in Ankara had been carried out by a stolen jeep from İzmir with a false number shield.

According to the report in Milliyet daily, the witnesses have explained the following:

* As the military shuttles with soldiers and civilians were driving through Merasim Street to İnönü Boulevard and have approached the traffic lights in convoy, a vehicle carrying the assailant or the assailants has exploded by the shuttles.

* While the three buses standing in a row have burned down completely, the one in the middle has been driven away from the road to the pavement by the dint of the explosion and has stopped after hitting the wall of the military lodging building.

* A one-meter deep and two-meters wide hole was formed on the road.

“Mostly civilian servants and sergeants”

A witness has made the following statement:

“We were driving in the front shuttle and suddenly windows of the vehicle broke with the dint of the terrible explosion. Behind us was the Eryaman shuttle No. 143. This shuttle was carrying approximately 20-25 persons consisting mostly of civilian servants and sergeants”.

The shuttles are in use by military officers and civilians serving as civilian servants in the military as well.
