"Un-jailed journalists" initiative launched a campaign to show its solidarity with Turkey's dozens of jailed journalist with a public invitation to send New Year's cards.
"71 journalist in Turkey will celebrate the new year's eve behind bars this year. Some might be released soon, some might spend another year. But we won't accept this. Un-jailed journalists' hearts and minds will always be with their colleagues in 2013," the initiative statement said.
The statement said while cards senders could be either journalists or from other professions, the initiative made its call to everyone who supported journalists' rights and the human right to be informed.
"You can send your messages, pictures and videos through our website www.disaridekigazeteciler.com until December 31,” the statement said. (HÇ/HK)
