“This step marked in history as a ‘shame’ has consumed all political mechanisms, set the line of rights and liberties back and severely damaged democratic life”.
“It will be hard to recover”
The statement remarks that lifting the immunity of HDP MPs will abolish democratic representation relation, and that complicate the present problem further by weakening the faith in politics.
“Consequently, it will give birth to negative consequences hard to recover.
“Such an effort whose cost will be paid by the whole society is unacceptable. This [initiative] should be immediately abandoned. The problem can neither be solved by digging ditches and setting up barricades, nor imposing curfews, launching operations and resorting to instruments narrowing democratic sphere”.
Solution lies in negotiation
NGOs pointed parliament for solution in the statement.
“The address for the solution is parliament. The way for solution is politics and negotiation. Any road other than politics leads us to deadlock”.
Democratic politics
The NGOs in their statement emphasizing democratic politics made a call for the solution process to be resumed.
“We believe all social issues can be tackled within democratic politics and by dialogue. We ask for the conflict to be put an end and that the negotiations to be resumed”. (YY/TK)
