An explosion at Adımlar Magazine headquarters in Istanbul’s Kağıthane district left columnist Ünsal Zor dead and 3 wounded including the editor-in-chief Ali Osman Zor. Other wounded were identified as Cem Türkbiner and Cüneyt Karan.
The incident broke out last night around 7:30 pm local time. Regarding the incident, police authorities and gas company experts say that the explosion was not due to a gas leak — a finding that strengthened the possibility of a bombed assault.
It was reported that the explosion left the apartment’s surrounding walls collapsed and neighbor windows broken.
While an investigation is reportedly underway, police authorities released a statement saying that the bomb left at the office door exploded as the office workers opened the door.
The magazine was ideologically in relation with The Great Eastern Islamic Raiders' Front (İBDA-C) -- an organization recognized as “illegal” in Turkey. While the magazine longtime organized a campaign its jailed leader Salih Mirzabeyoğlu, it allegedly took the decision to support ISIS editorially. (EÖ/BM)
