Devlet Bahçeli, the chairperson of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), has called on the İYİ (Good) Party to decide to reunite with the MHP in the extraordinary congress it will hold tomorrow (August 3), saying in a tweet that the reunification will strengthen Turkey and "bring the cause to the future."
While the MHP is together with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Justice and Development Party (AKP) under the informal "People's Alliance," the İYİ Party, an offshoot of the MHP that was founded in 2017, has formed the informal 'Nation's Alliance' with the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP).
In response to Bahçeli's call, İYİ Party's official account quoted Bahçeli's tweet and posted a video that shows its chairperson Meral Akşener bursting into laughter, saying, "This is great, my dear."
Akşener also tweeted on her personal account, quoting Bahçeli's message, saying, "Mr. Erdoğan, what did you say to this mate this time?"
