Education Ministry officials in Diyarbakır province allegedly ordered the list of teachers who taught in Kurdish on February 21, International Mother Language Day.
The ministry order was as follows:
“In order to be used in a processing, we are demanding the list of teachers who were teaching in Kurdish in public schools and the approved photocopies of class logs on February 21, 2014…”.
Appeal for mother language
Previously, Eğitim-Sen, an education union, made an appeal to all public school teachers to instruct two hours of their subject classes in Kurdish and make a record on class logs on February 21, International Mother Language Day. (YY/BM)
