Hazal Ölmez working at Evrensel daily as secretary was attacked by a group of people saying “Why did you get dressed that bawdy, you are coup plotter, a Fethullahist” as she was heading home in Kocamustafa paşa in İstanbul last night (August 2).
Three people of whom two were women attacked Ölmez who is pregnant for six months and a half, reported the daily.
Ölmez told what happened as follows:
“As I left work, I visited market and walking towards home. Someone pulled my hair from behind. When I turned and looked, I saw a woman in chador and I said ‘What is happening, why are you pulling my hair’ but she began to attack me.
Ölmez: They wanted to lynch me
“Another woman in chador attacked me with her but at the same time they tried to gather people by shouting ‘Traitor, coup plotter, Fethullahist’. They wanted to have my lynched there.
“A few minutes later, a mana ged around 26-27 with long beard and shalwar approached and shouted that ‘There are fout others like you, we have blacklisted you, their time will come too’ and kicked in my ankle”.
People nearby remained indifferent
Ölmez knocked down due to the assault was battered after falling down too.
Ölmez noting there were many people around expressed that the attackers tried to provoke the people in the neighborhood and the people remained indifferent.
"You will obey us"
Ölmez telling that the attackers said “You won’t get dressed like this anymore, you will get dressed as we wish and you will obey us”, said she was saved by a woman aged around 60.
"No report, file complaint"
While Ölmez’s ankle was injured due to the battering, the doctor she went to see following the assault said “There is no condition requiring for [medical] report” and refused to give Ölmez a report.
Ölmez objecting to not being given the report heard the doctor saying “You can go to police station and file complaint, there is nothing we can do”.
Ölmez is getting prepared to file complaint. (YY/TK)
