Six soldiers have been killed, two others wounded resulting by the improvised explosive device be detonated by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members and rocket attack following that during the passage of military vehicle in Çaldıran district of Van province.
While District Gendarmerie Commander Major Kıvanç Cesur and three soldiers lost their lives on scene, four soldiers one of whom heavily wounded.
Two of the four soldiers injured in the attack lost their lives as being taken to hospital by helicopter.
PKK had set the trucks on fire in the same region in the morning hours of yesterday (May 24).
According to the statement issued by the General Staff, the explosive detonated during the passage of the armored vehicle which was deployed to the scene to intervene in the incident of setting 10 trucks on fire by the PKK members.

Çaldıran District Gendarmerie Commander Major Kıvanç Cesur’s retired teacher father Remzi Cesur, and his mother Zehra Cesur live in Turkey’s western Fethiye district of Muğla province.
Cesur was married to nurse Seda Cesur and father of one.
31-year-old Technical Sergeant Murat Demirci’s family lives in Merzifon district of Amasya province.
Murat Demirci getting married to Songül Demirci had started to live in Van last year.
Family of Sergeant Major Murat Sarıgül (43) live in Ahlat district of Turkey’s eastern Bitlis province. Çavuş, the father of two, was serving as traffic officer at Van Çaldıran District Gendarmerie.
Sarıgül whose retirement was about to come was appointed to Turkey’s western province of İzmir.
Family of Gendarmerie Non-Commissioned Officer İbrahim Tıraş (25) live in Nurdağı district of Antep province. Tıraş whose wife is five months pregnant was appointed to Maraş five days ago.
Family of Gendarmerie Sergeant Major Ferdullah Kaykusuz (24) live in Ayvalık district of Turkey’s northern province of Samsun. Kaykusuz was married to Mafiye Kaykusuz six months ago and went to his first place of assignment, Van province.
Family of Gerndarmerie Sergeant Major (27) live in Hacıbektaş distict of Nevşehir province.
Türkmen getting engaged with Hacer Türkmen 15 days ago had started his duty as sergeant major nine months ago. (EKN/TK)
