After he was attacked "due to late delivery" in Çekmeköy, İstanbul, delivery worker Mehmet Ali İbin has lost his life.
Having a cerebral hemorrhage following the attack six days ago, he was taken to a hospital. While İbin lapsed into a coma after the attack, the assaulter was released after he had been referred to the courthouse.
As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), İbin lost his life on October 24. Taken into custody for the second time, assaulter Tayfun Ş. was referred to court and has been arrested for "wilful murder."
On the day of the incident, Tayfun Ş. and three others went to İbin, who had called him due to a missing address, and attacked him. Giving his statement about the incident, the assaulter accused the deceased delivery worker and said, "He acted aggressively, I pushed him in reflex."
Testifying at the İstanbul Anadolu 2nd Penal Judgeship of Peace, Tayfun Ş. said that he had ordered shoes for his girlfriend and briefly added:
"One and a half weeks ago, the delivery worker called and said that we had to take the package from the branch. I gave directions for my store and asked them to deliver it there. They did not.
"I spoke to the delivery worker again. He told me that the address was missing. I gave directions again. But the delivery worker started swearing. In response to this, I said, 'OK, I am coming.'
"When I went there, he said to me, 'Look what is written on the package. Are you blind or something?' He acted aggressively. When he pushed my hand while giving me the package, I hit him as a reflex. When he stepped back, he tripped and fell." (RT/SD)
