Ferhat Tunç has faced a new lawsuit on his return from Switzerland where he went for concert of 35th anniversary. His tweet on April 16, 2017 at the night of the referendum is in dispute. Prosecutor’s office demanded that Tunç be penalized on charge of “inciting people to enmity and hostility”.
Concerning the new suit, Tunç said:
“This is the 3rd lawsuit brought against me in the last few months. There is no need to discuss the legal side of the aforementioned suits because there is none. They counted my objection against April 2017 Referendum results as crime. I raised objection to the referendum results due to the suspicion that the poll was rigged”.
Crime: Writing “#HayırSusmuyoruz” (#NoWeWon’tRemainSilent)
In the indictment prepared by Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Tunç’s post reading “There are very legitimate, democratic and rightful calls again in İstanbul and other cities tonight. #HayırSusmuyoruz #HayırYargılanamaz (#NoTheyCannotBeTried)” was qualified as a crime element. Tunç will appear before judge at İstanbul Büyükçekmece 4th Criminal Court of First Instance on April 18, 2018.
