Ambulance heading to the basement where 24 people including heavily wounded have taken shelter in Cizre district of Şırnak province had to return because of the shootings.
According to the statement Turkish Medical Association Central council member, Şeyhmus Gökalp made to bianet, the medical team that set off from Şırnak Municipality to the basement in Cizre had to return because of clashes in the region.
They drew 300 meters near the building
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak MP, Faysal Sarıyıldız had explained that voluntary health workers had headed for the building for the wounded awaiting help, but stopped by security forces at 300 meters away from the building.
“Ambulances of Ministry of Health and the municipality will be referred one more time within the scope of the meetings held. A road should be paved to access the basement since the building collapsed. Our efforts continue”.
Voluntary health workers and an ambulance belonging to Şırnak Municipality headed to Cizre. Four health workers wanted to get to Bostan street where the building is located. Shootings started as they reached the street and they returned.
15 wounded, seven bodies and nine exhausted civilians have been waiting for aid as of January 23. It was lastly heard from them on January 30. (AS/TK)
