The İYİ Party leader, Meral Akşener, spoke about male violence and impunity decisions regarding women killings at her party's group meeting today (June 22).
An unjust provocation reduction was granted to 27-year-old Pınar Gültekin's murderer, Cemal Metin A., who, after killing Gültekin, burned her body.
The court's decision stirred a huge reaction amongst the family members of Gültekin, women organizations, political parties, and public figures.
Reacting to the court's decision, Akşener said the judge's approach encourages men to be more violent towards women.
"They will allow a psychopath to walk freely after 14 years. They encourage the killing of women. They encourage perverts. Shame on them! Anyone who has a role in this decision, in the Turkish judiciary system, I refer to God today. But, they will be held accountable tomorrow"

"This law is a law of tyranny"
Akşener also criticized the disinformation bill which includes new arrangements for social media and online news reporting in Turkey.
"This law is prepared to increase oppression on websites. This law means to bring pressure, that's on television and newspapers, to the internet. This law is an effort to create a new RTÜK. In short, this law is a law of tyranny."
"And do you know why they needed such a law? Because they are afraid. They are afraid of the truth. They are afraid of justice. They are afraid that the people will speak freely and that everyone will learn the truth."
