Ahmet Türk resigned from the group presidency of the Democratic Society Party (DTP).
During DTP’s parliamentary group meeting, which was closed to the media, Emine Ayna, Mardin deputy and DTP’s acting president, was elected to replace Ahmet Türk.
According to CNNTürk’s report, Ayna said that they were for prolonging Türk’s position, but the internal regulations did not allow it.
Ahmet Türk stated that Emine Ayna was elected as acting president to replace Nurettin Demirtaş, the elected president of the party, since he encountered a problem with his military service and had to leave his position, and this why, added Türk, his group presidency had ended. “This is the reason behind my leaving” said Türk.
Türk: There is no problem within the party
Replying the questions if there was a problem within the party, Türk told that they were not even close. He added that they would continue working in solidarity, representing a belief, and a struggle to solve a specific problem. Continuing, he stated that they are working for a peaceful and democratic Turkey and they want to do their share in this struggle.
“As far as this is concerned, there is no problem in the party.”
His response to the question that if he would try for the party presidency was “We will discuss that when the time comes”. (GG)
