The Journalists' Union of Turkey (TGS) has announced that it has reached an agreement with Agence France-Press (AFP), whose journalists in Turkey previously decided to go on a strike.
AFP has agreed for a 16 percent salary increase, a meal fee of 700 lira (~77 USD) per month, one salary bonus every year and private health insurance, according to the union.
On September 10, TGS Chair Gökhan Durmuş said the employees were offered a salary increase of only 11 percent whereas the real inflation exceeded 30 percent.
"Even though it is said that 'There is no crisis in Turkey. There is a growth rate of 21 percent. Our economy is very good," we know that this isn't the case," he had said. (PT/VK)
