9 Imprisoned Women Politicians on Hunger Strike in Protest of Afrin Operation
Figen Yüksekdağ, Aysel Tuğluk, Çağlar Demirel, Burcu Çelik Özkan, Gülser Yıldırım, Gültan Kışanak, Nurhayat Altun, Edibe Şahin and Sebahat Tuncel have gone on hunger strike for three days in prisons where they are kept.

Nine politicians from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions’ PARTY (DBP) have gone on hunger strike for three days in protest of Afrin operation.
According to HDP’s statement, former HDP Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ, its Deputy Co-Chair Aysel Tuğluk, Group Deputy Chair Çağlar Demirel, MPs Burcu Çelik Özkan, Gülser Yıldırım, Diyarbakır Co-Mayor Gültan Kışanak, Dersim Co-Mayor Nurhayat Altun, former Dersim Co-Mayor Edibe Şahin and DBP Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel started the hunger strike yesterday (January 24).
The military campaign launched by the Turkish Armed Forces together with the Free Syrian Army (FSA) into Afrin, Syria is on its sixth day today. (BK/TK)
