9 Bar Associations Make a Joint Call for Peace: Stop the War

Bar associations of Diyarbakır, Van, Urfa, Mardin, Şırnak, Muş, Adıyaman, Bingöl and Dersim have released a joint statement about the cross-border military operation launched into northern Syria by the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF). Some highlights from the statement are as follows:

'War determines the weak side, not the right one'

"We invite all state authorities and opposition parties, especially Dear President, to peace and request that the war be stopped immediately. This political maneuver will do nothing but aggravate the current social, political, economic and psychological crises in Turkey.

"It is possible that Turkey can militarily win this war, which it started by taking the whole world on itself; but, it needs to be remembered that 'war does not determine who is right, but who is weak'.

"The loser of this war, which we believe that no side will win, will be all people of the Middle East, especially Turkish and Kurdish peoples. We invite all state authorities and opposition parties, especially Dear President, to peace and request that the war be stopped immediately". (RT/SD)
