78 Refugees Rescued from Boats off Aegean Coast

A total of 78 irregular migrants were rescued off Turkey's Aegean coast, the state-run Anadolu Agency reported.
Coast Guard teams launched an operation and rescued 40 refugees from Afghanistan who were in a rubber boat which had been directed to Turkey's territorial waters by Greece's Coast Guard.
Separately, Coast Guard teams also rescued 38 refugees from a boat drifting off the Aegean coast.

Turkey announced on February 27 that it would no longer stop refugees from reaching Europe.
The country has been a key transit point for refugees aiming to cross into Europe to start new lives, especially those fleeing war and persecution. (TP/VK)
