Presidency of General Staff has announced that six persons have been killed in Derik district of Mardin and Çukurca district of Hakkari provinces in an attack carried out by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) members this morning (June 24).
Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) has made the following announcement on its official website;
“Two brave fellow soldiers have been martyred in the armed attack carried out by separatist terrorist organization on our forces performing a legal examination at 6.30 a.m. on June 24, 2016 Friday in Bayırköy neighbourhood of Mardin’s Derik district.
“In addition, due to detonation of improvised explosive device planted on the area where our forces were assigned to provide security of Hakkari-Çukurca road, four brave fellow soldiers have lost their lives at 7.15 a.m.”.
Also in Bitlis province, Gendarmerie specialized non-com Mehmet Aşkar had lost his life in an operation in the rural area of Tatvan at 4 p.m. yesterday (June 23). (AS/DG)
