Alper Çağlar’s latest movie Dağ (Mountain) received this year's Golden Okra Best Picture Award - an alternative prize established in 2009 against the overwhelming predominance of the patriarchal perspective and male gaze and the continuing constriction of space for women in Turkish cinema.
In the best male category, Oğuz ve Bekir characters in Dağ received the golden okra, leaving behind two other competing characters, İskender in Evim Sensin (You are my home) and Tekin in Sen Kimsin (Who are you).
In the best scenario category, Dağ received its third award, competing against Zenne (Male Dancer) and Güzel Günler Göreceğiz (We Will See Nice Days).
In the best actress category, Kezban character in Zenne received the golden okra.
In the spectators' best category, Zeki Demirkubuz’s Yeraltı (Underground) received the okra award.
In this year's new category which organizers give out as warning, Dry Okra Award,Çakallarla Dans: Hastasıyız Dede (Dance with Jackals: We are Sick Grandpa) receive the okra award. (YY/BM)
