The Human Rights Association (İHD) has announced its report of “Violations Against Child Rights in Eastern and Southeastern Regions during 2016”.
Five children lost their lives and six others were injured by security forces for violating right to use arms and disobeying stop warning in 2016, the report suggests.
22 children were killed and 12 children were injured resulting by clashes.
As a result of bomb attacks, 41 children died and three children were injured in the regions.
During 2016, 150 children were detained and 40 others were arrested during demonstrations or house raids, over six children were tortured and six others were subjected to violence outside custody.
Need for constructive social policies
The statement said, “Judicial bodies’ not running effective investigations about children whose right to life are violated, not bringing the perpetrators to justice almost encourage law enforces who commit crimes and promote them to sustain the violations”.
It was also stated that the most important reason of violation of children’s right to live is the absence of constructive social policies concerning the children. (YY/TK)
