The clashes intensified in Yıkıkkaya street near Kurşunlu Mosque in central district of Sur of Diyarbakır province at around 2 p.m.
Over members of Kurdistan’s Workers Party (PKK) detonating hand-made explosives and opening fire, one police officer and two specialized sergeants have lost their lives, nine security guards been injured. The armed conflicts continue in the region. The special operations police officer who has lost his life in the attacks has been identified as Buhari Ağçelik and the noncommissioned officer to be Sergeant Metin Kıldiş. Despite all medical interventions in Diyarbakır Military Hospital, one specialized sergeant among the injured has lost his life.
Six neighborhoods of Sur district have been under curfew since December 2015. (HK/DG)
