An unlicensed mine has collapsed in the neighborhood of Bölüm in Kilimli, Zonguldak. Two miners have been trapped underground.
The reason for the collapse cannot be identified yet. It has been reported that, owned by O.A., the mine was operating without a license.
Going to the scene of incident upon being notified, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), fire brigade teams and the Turkish Hard Coal Institution (TTK) evacuation teams have started working to rescue miners Sebahattin Kalaycoğlu and Murat Ovaz.
Mine was sealed off last year
As of 8.47 a.m. today (January 31), the search and rescue operations were going for around nine hours.
It has been further reported that the mine was sealed off last year. (TP/SD)
