"Filing of a second request for authorization, identical or modified, before establishment of international lawful grounds for legitimacy of military action and putting internal and external pressures on the Assembly would surely violate the principle of parliamentary supremacy. "
The further fact that dispatch of troops abroad and transportation of very large amounts of US military equipment across the country have already started is tantamount to holding the Assembly in contempt.
The professors, by a written press release, have reminded that the Grand National Assembly of Turkey had passed a resolution on March 1, 2003 to the effect of rejecting the government's request for permission both to send troops abroad and for the deployment of foreign troops on Turkish territory.
"In total disregard of this resolution, the government is being forced, and is preparing, to renew its request from the Assembly."
