A specialized sergeant and a special operations police officer have lost their lives in two different attacks carried out by YPS (Kurdistan Protection Units) in Nusaybin district of Mardin province.
During the operations carried out in order to close the ditches and remove the barricades, fire has been opened on the soldiers yesterday (March 27) morning.
28-year-old Specialized Sergeant Vedat Uğur, severely wounded in the fire opened by a sharpshooter rifle, has been taken to Nusaybin State Hospital but could not be rescued despite all efforts.
40-year-old special operations police officer Coşkun Nazilli who has been severely injured by the explosion of a bomb trapped on the road in Nusaybin, has lost his life in Nusaybin State Hospital he was taken to.
Curfew since March 14
Nusaybin district has been under curfew since March 14.
According to the data from the General Staff, 95 YPS members have been killed since the curfew has been imposed and operations have been launched.
According to Cumhuriyet daily’s report, 18 security officers have lost their lives in Nusaybin as of March 26. The attack from yesterday taken into account, the figure has risen to 20.
